ARC

Privacy & your data

ARC is local-first. This notice describes the current development app and website, and will be updated if their data practices change.

Updated September 5, 2026

Memory stays on your device

ARC stores saved Moments, notes, track references, playback markers, and listening records in its local profile storage. Playback observed by ARC supports Listening Days, Albums Revisited, and Listening Rhythms. ARC account sign-in and cloud synchronization are not currently available.

Apple Music access

With your permission, ARC uses Apple Music services to access your library, search the catalog, retrieve artwork, and play music. These functions communicate with Apple and are subject to Apple's account, subscription, and privacy terms. Local-first Memory does not mean music services work without network requests. You can manage ARC's Apple Music permission in System Settings. Revoking access does not delete your local Memory.

Apple Privacy Policy

Voice notes

Microphone access is requested when you choose to record a voice note. Recordings are stored locally. ARC does not automatically upload them. You can manage microphone permission in System Settings and manage notes from the app.

Exports, imports, and deletion

Memory export creates a file under your control. An archive can contain private notes and voice recordings; protect it as you would the originals. Choosing a shared or cloud-synced destination may transfer that file through the service you selected. ARC import does not turn on cloud synchronization.

Deleting an item in ARC does not remove copies you exported or backed up elsewhere. You control those copies separately. Keep a backup before removing application data; local storage is not a guarantee against device loss or damage.

This website

The current website does not add analytics, advertising trackers, account forms, mailing-list collection, or tracking cookies. Fonts and product images are served as local website assets. Screenshots show the real ARC interface using original demonstration albums and sample records, not personal listening data.

The site is prepared for GitHub Pages hosting. When served by GitHub Pages, GitHub logs visitor IP addresses for security purposes. External links and services have their own privacy practices.
